Mucha Nuit, also called Night's Rest, is a Belgian made jacquard wall tapestry. In this work by Czechoslovakian artist Alphonse Mucha night time is personified in a piece from his Hours of the Day series, 1899. An ethereal woman is shown sleeping in the natural surrounds of the woods, and bordered by flowers. She is clad in a flowing delicate gown before a background of darkened woods and the hint of the moon seen through the trees themselves to create a dreamlike background to the scene.
Mucha's works frequently featured beautiful young women in flowing, vaguely Neoclassical-looking robes, often surrounded by lush flowers which sometimes formed halos behind their heads often using pale pastel colors. The Mucha Style became known as Art Nouveau French for new art and was often imitated.
This piece is a lovely addition to your home decor motif.
