This Belgian wall tapestry, Quitasol, is a reproduction of a painting by Francisco Goya, a Spanish romantic painter, in 1776. This piece was part a series that were commissioned to Goya for the Dining Room of the Prado Palace. The fresh and warm coloring, the damsel responding to gallant flirtation, and the illuminated background make this one of Goya's most cheerful paintings.
Goya was regarded both as the last of the Old Masters and the first of the moderns. The subversive imaginative element in his art, as well as his bold handling of paint, provided a model for the work of artists of later generations, notably Édouard Manet, Pablo Picasso, and Francis Bacon. An elegantly impressive accent to add sophistication to your home décor motif.
