King Harold Large, French impressionist jacquard woven tapestry wall hanging depicts events leading up to the Battle of Hastings (1066) when Duke William of Normandy was victorious over King Harold of Saxony, England. This is an extract of queen Mathilde's tapestry. The original some 230 feet long, is in the Bayeux museum in Normandy. It describes how England was conquered by Normans. Also known as L'Embarquement.
Here, the Latin inscription ECCLESIA, HIC HAROLD MARE NAVIGAVIT ET VELIS says that Harold prepares for his trip. He enjoys his last meal before taking the open sea in direction of Normandy. A marvelous addition to your home décor motif.
